The Lambikstoempers vzw organizes …
We meet at 9:45 am at the entrance of Bryggja Brewery, Moerkerkebrug 3 at 8340 Moerkerke.
The programm:
It started out as a hobby. In 2012 four brewing friends decided to enter the Brouwland Beer competition with their tripel. Out of a selection of more than 90 beers their Bryggja was elected the best Belgian hobby beer by a professional jury (among which yours truly). The beginning of a great adventure! Meanwhile, they found a building in Moerkerke and in the spring of 2015 the brewing equipment was installed. Time to take a visit …
At Bryggja we have a tour of +/- 2 hours, 3 tasters included!
Afterwards we go to the center of Bruges (a drive of +/- 20 min.).
Parking tip for Bruges: use the large parking at the front of the station, it’s fairly cheap and you have a free bus to the center with your parking ticket. There are also parkings closer to our next stop, but they are quite expensive!
Belgian classics and the nicest terrace of Bruges (as they themselves claim). The address: Kartuizerinnenstraat 6 at 8000 Brugge.
The Tour starts at 2:30 pm, at the Kartuizerinnenstraat 6 at 8000 Brugge.
We enter right in the middle of the brewing process. Most likely they are filtering at that time. Brewer Thomas Vandelanotte guides us around the plant, telling us about the brewing process and he lets us taste of lambic, the beer that is brewed locally and the blend Bourgogne des Flandres. And for De Lambikstoempers hij even presents an extra!
For the ones who want to taste something else afterwards, we also go to …
A pleasant and cozy beer café in the center of Bruges with 300 different Belgian beers. Daisy Claeys, manageres of the café, received the Lambic Award 2015 at the end of last year. This award is given to a person who has distinguised himselve (or herselve) in a particular way in the defense of the intrests of the traditional lambic beers and the promotion of Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek. The address: Kemelstraat 5 at 8000 Brugge.
