On the basis of a by now impressive list of lambic loving establishments, a number of criteria (which were drawn up after many hours of discussions) and after anonymous site visits to the proposed establishments, we, De Lambikstoempers vzw, awarded our Golden Lambikstoemper for the 15th time on Sunday 15 June 2025 to the establishment that, in our eyes, has paid the most attention to lambic beers in 2025.
And this year’s winner has become De Gebrande Winning (Zepperenweg 7 at 3800 Sint-Truiden)! Chef Raf Sainte founded his restaurant in 2014. His obsession with pure products and local ingredients also translates into an extremely strong love for Belgian beers in general and, by extension, beers of spontaneous fermentation, alongside but also incorporated into his various dishes.
Anno 2020, Ratebeer awarded De Gebrande Winning with the award of “Best beer restaurant in the world”. Year after year, De Gebrande Winning also takes the title of “Best Beer Restaurant” at the #BADF Beer Awards election. And so from now on, Raf can also rightly call himself the winner of the Golden Lambikstoemper Award 2025!
The Golden Lambikstoemper Award is an artistic certificate provided with some poetry by Kristof Verhasselt. Winner Raf Sainte received his award from the hands of our chairman, Johan ‘Wanne’ Madalijns.
Golden Lambikstoemper Award 2026
Because it becomes more and more difficult year after year to award our Golden Lambikstoemper Award to an equal and rightful new winner, we no longer award a Golden Lambikstoemper every year. Are you convinced that we really missed someone who should win it next year? Then be sure to let us know!
The Lambikstoempers asbl and Streekproducten Centrum Halle invite you to their…

To the delight of many beer lovers, we only serve real lambic beers. Namely those where 100% lambic is still used to obtain OLD GEUZE & KRIEK and where use is made of the yeast cells found in the air of the Zenne Valley.
This year, visitors will also again have the chance to taste a real lambic, the basic brew of gueuze. So we will also serve gueuze, kriek and other fruit lambics.
A little hungry? At the Streekproducten Centrum, you can get a plate of cheese, dry sausages, “mattetaart”, crisps… and soft drinks, for those who want them.
All beers are sold in 15cl tasting glasses. This should make it possible to taste several of these beers.
Entry to the Day(s) of the Old Geuze is FREE.
SCOOPS & TASTERS
As on previous editions, you can taste a number of special beers and firsts on the Day(s) of Old Gueuze. Among others, you can taste the Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2014, 2019 AND 2024, Timmermans Elderflower, Oude Kriek de Schaerbeek Tilquin, De Cort Schaarbeekse Kriek (in avant-première!), 4 Pajot Geuze Gaasbeek, Gueuze Tilquin 60/40 and Gueuze Tilquin 40/60, Devillé kriekenlambik, Kestemont Sterke Oude Geuze, Odilon Mirabel Lambiek, Hanssens Oude Geuze EXTRA etcetera…
For our now traditional ‘tasting board’, this year we chose to juxtapose a number of ‘new’ Old Geuze: Oude Geuze Ambreus, Van Aert Gueuze Artisanale, Oude Geuze Parrain, Oude Geuze Adelaar and our own Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2024. This tasting board was specially designed to allow visitors to order 5 glasses at a time and thus embark on a journey through a fascinating landscape of flavours.
GOLDEN LAMBIKSTOEMPER AWARD
Between 2010 and 2023, we annually awarded the Golden Lambikstoemper to the on-trade establishment that, in our opinion, paid the most attention to lambic beers that past year.
A number of tips came in this year too, but after anonymous site visits to the proposed cases and after many discussions, De Lambikstoempers vzw has come to the decision NOT to award a Golden Lambikstoemper in 2024.
None of the proposed hospitality businesses met all the criteria and, like the previous winners, a Golden Lambikstoemper Award has to be 100% deserved.
Definitely do! And in the meantime, we look forward to seeing you on Saturday 28 September and/or Sunday 29 September, at our Day(s) of the Old Geuze 2024, in the tent on the parking lot of the Streekproducten Centrum (Halle), where the brand new Hotel Hallensis will also be solemnly opened. Be sure to come and have a look, every visitor gets 1 free drink!
… ‘In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst’ in Lennik (Eizeringen)
On the basis of a by now impressive list of lambic loving establishments, a number of criteria (which were drawn up after many hours of discussions) and after anonymous site visits to the proposed establishments, we, De Lambikstoempers vzw, awarded our Golden Lambikstoemper Award for the 14th time on Sunday 29 October 2023 to the establishment that, in our eyes, has paid the most attention to lambic beers in 2023.
And this year’s winner has become ‘In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst’ (Frans Baetensstraat 45 at 1750 Eizeringen)! As soon as you set foot inside, you imagine yourself in the late 40s or early 50s. It was sometimes called “the pub with the longest name and the shortest opening hours” because since the 1970s it was only open from 10am to 1.30pm, but that changed in 2017. On the occasion of the establishment’s 175th anniversary, manager Kurt Panneels decided to keep the café open from 10am to 8pm on Sundays and high days from now on. Meanwhile, it was also voted ‘best beer destination in the world’ several times!
And now the inn on the church square of Eizeringen may also receive the Golden Lambikstoemper Award 2023, thanks to one of the most extensive geuze and krieks selections in the world. Congratulations Kurt… and the entire Panneels family!
The Golden Lambikstoemper Award is an artistic certificate provided with some poetry by Ludo Buggenhout. Winner Kurt Panneels received his award from the hands of our chairman, Johan “Wanne” Madalijns.
